The latest edition of the web's most popular browser
Internet Explorer 9 is the new edition of Microsoft's hugely popular web browser. Building on the success of previous editions of IE with new features and a new look, Microsoft has high hopes for version 9.
The first thing you'll notice about Internet Explorer 9 is an overhauled interface. Making the most of the transparent graphical style available in Windows 7 and newer editions of Windows Vista, IE 9 looks sleek, smart and simpler than ever before. Like in Google Chrome, the Address bar and Search box have been merged to create a simpler, more seamless user experience.
Among the new features included in Internet Explorer 9 are better integration with the Windows operating system and a seriously beefed-up security system. IE 9 also lets you 'pin' websites to the Superbar and allows you to bookmark your favorite websites as 'applications' in your OS. The new Performance Advisor add-on identifies add-ons that are slowing Internet Explorer down (a feature badly needed in Mozilla Firefox).
Internet Explorer 9 also offers improved speed and performance, as well as better compliance with web standards and new technologies. IE 9 features decent support for HTML 5 (the new generation of media-rich websites use this language), and now finishes the Acid 3 test with a near-perfect 95/100. New features like hang recovery and InPrivate Filtering provide Internet Explorer a stabler and more secure web experience than most other browsers.
In all, the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 is faster and prettier than its predecessors - and really throws down the gauntlet to its competitors. Watch out: the browser wars just got exciting again.

Why do you still exist?.
Internet Explorer is literally the WORST web browser that I have ever used in my entire life. I have tried Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc., and each and every one of them is better by a landslide. It freezes constantly, it's slow, it crashes, freezes my entire computer, the list goes on and on, but I will say that I rate Internet Explorer, and every version I've tried:1 out of 10.Seriously guys? The only thing you ever change on your web browser is it's appearance, and add a few tools unecessary tools here and there. This isn't Windows 95 anymore. It's time to fix your web browser. I'm suprised that computer manafacturers still use you as their default. Don't be shocked if that changes soon if you can't fix your sh**.
Pros:
It gives you the opportunity to download Google Chrome or Firefox.
Cons:
Slow, freezes constantly, freezes up computers, crashes, etc etc. More

13-Nov-2010 Jumping ship.
I have always stuck by Microsoft because I tend to favour the underdog. Silly to call the Microsoft money-making powerhouse an underdog, but it seems to be a fallen giant, and always got the flak for everything that goes wrong. So, out of the kindness of my heart I have stuck by IE when all else haven jumped ship to Mozilla. I "upgraded" from IE8 to IE9 around a week ago and I've now reach my limit - I'm abandoning ship too. I don't understand why they would let any version, beta or not, be released whereby such universal websites as Amazon, Wikipedia and Googlemaps DON'T LOAD PROPERLY. It's more than a little frustrating that the top of the page or article gets shown and as you scroll down it all gets fudged out. This is not to mention the fact that some buttons on websites simply do not work on IE9 - when this happened with random links it's frustrating, when it occurs with Paypal, my Bank's website and the like it's frankly unbearable. Whether they improve these glitches or not, I'm moving to the main concourse of Mozilla.
Pros:
More of webpage shown
Cons:
Website glitches
Few messages to express contrition or explanation for said glitches
Favourites, Print, File and all been moved, annoyingly
New Favourites menu is overly simplistic
Requires rebooy on installation More

2 days of using IE 9 beta.
Downloaded 64 bit version IE9 (beta) onto Windows 7 Professional Laptop. It has ther TAB alyout as Google Chrome - I personally prefer the OLD tab layout. Speed in loading the home pages (I have 5 home pages as std) is definitely faster with this version.
One ODD repeat occurance is that music / speech starts at any time, any appears NOT to come from any of the pages I have open.
This did NOT happen with the previous IE 8.
No adverts or Pop-ups are visible on any of the pagesTo Microsoft / anybody - Any ideas on whether this is a security breach or what ? I have a full Norton Internet Security installed and working OK. It's a NEW Laptop.
David
Cons:
Concerned about stability and security - with unauthorised speech and music More

What Rubbish is this?!.
Think of all the beautiful fast browsers that barley fail, work like they should and never freeze. Awesome, isn't it? Well, now think of the TOTAL OPPOSITE of that, and that's all this Junk contains! I spent ages downloading this 64-bit version, then installing it, then restarting. When I finally finished, I opened up IE 9 and in 2 secs flat the screen goes white and says 'Shit Explorer has stopped working. Would you like to send Microsoft the problem?' So I decide to send the problem to Bill Gates and see if he can fix it when the window closes. I try again, and the same thing happens. This time I try with the one that didn't say (64-bit), and the same thing happens!you can download, but I can't say it will work.
Pros:
Hmmmmmmm, lets see, absolutely NOTHING!
Cons:
Practicably EVERYTHING you can think of! More

Faster when it works.
Overall this will be a great program when the bugs are taken out. But for now, too many web sites fail to load, or when they do load, fail to operate as they shoud, something that never happened tin IE 8.
Pros:
The initial start up is fast. Much faster than before. It has a nice clean look to it, that should offer competition to other programs. Extremely easy to install. Page looks nice.
Cons:
Right now I don't find it too stable. Too many freezes. Looking for my favorites on the right hand side of the screen is taking some getting used to. I've had many of my favorite web sites freeze in this application where it has never happened with IE8. Could this be a bug that needs to be fixed? This morning I tried to open IE9 and got a blank screen. Had to shut it down and then try again. More
